This Privacy Policy explains what data the Resume Tailor Chrome extension and its backend service collect, how we use and protect it, and the choices and rights you have. Resume Tailor rewrites your resume to match the job posting on the page you are viewing.
This service is operated by Mosi ("we", "us", "our"), the provider and data controller for Resume Tailor. For privacy questions, data-access, or deletion requests, contact us using the details in the Contact us section below.
We collect the following categories of data, each only for the purpose stated.
| Data | What it is | Why we process it |
|---|---|---|
| Anonymous install token | A random per-installation identifier generated automatically when you install the extension. It contains no personal information and requires no login. | To associate your saved data and credit balance with your installation so the free tier works without an account. |
| Email address (optional) | Collected only if you choose to verify an email via a one-time code. This is the only contact personal information we collect. | To let you purchase credits and restore them across devices, and to send verification codes. |
| Resume / "fact base" | Information you provide: name, contact details, work history, education, and skills. | To generate tailored resumes for you. |
| Job postings | The text (title, company, description) of the posting on your active browser tab — read only when you click "Tailor." | Used as input to the tailoring so the result matches that role. |
| Tailored results | The generated resume and assessment report. | Stored in your history so you can revisit and reuse them. |
| Payment information | Credits are purchased via Stripe. Card and payment details are handled entirely by Stripe — the app and our backend never see or store card numbers. | To process purchases of generation credits. |
| Operational data | Non-personal records such as generation counters, credit balance, timestamps, and which resume template was used. | To operate the service, enforce credit limits, and show your usage. |
We do not track your browsing history, and the extension does not run in the background on arbitrary pages.
We share data only with the service providers below, and only to provide Resume Tailor to you. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
The extension requests the minimum Chrome permissions needed to function:
activeTab + scripting — to read the visible job posting on your current tab,
only when you click "Tailor." No content script runs on any page until you invoke "Tailor."storage — to store the anonymous token, the backend-URL setting, and in-progress tailoring state
locally on your device. The extension does not read pages you do not act on, does not track browsing history, and does not run in the background on arbitrary pages.
We keep your data for as long as you keep Resume Tailor installed and have data stored with us, so the service remains usable. You can delete items from your history within the app, reset your identity in Settings (see below), or request full deletion at any time. When you request deletion of your account or data, we remove your personal data from our active systems within 30 days and from encrypted backups within 90 days, except where we must retain limited records to comply with legal, tax, or accounting obligations.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Our legal bases for processing are: performance of a contract (to provide the tailoring you request and process your purchases), your consent (for optional email verification), and our legitimate interests (to operate, secure, and improve the service). You may withdraw consent at any time, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Your data is processed and stored in Canada and may be transferred to service providers as described above; we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request access to and deletion of your personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise your rights, contact us using the details below.
Resume Tailor is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Our handling of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically, the data we access is used only to provide and improve the resume-tailoring features described to you; it is not transferred to third parties except as needed to provide the service (the subprocessors listed above), not sold, not used for advertising, and not used to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes. Humans do not read your data except where required to provide the service, with your consent, for security purposes, or to comply with applicable law.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice (such as within the extension). Your continued use of Resume Tailor after an update means you accept the revised policy.
